Idiocracy

Idiocracy
Idiocracy (2006)

IMDB rating: 6.40

Plot: The purpose of the program set up by the Pentagon, called the “Human Hibernation Project,” is designed so that the military can save their best men for when they’re needed most. According to the officers heading the project, too many times the talents and expensive training of the best pilots and soldiers go to waste during times of peace. So they enlist Bauers (Wilson), the most under-achieving average guy they’ve got, to be the test subject for the initial hibernation experiment. Also participating in the top-secret program is Rita (Rudolph), a prostitute who agreed to take part in exchange for dropping some criminal charges against her, among other things. Of course, the experiment, which was to last only a year, goes under due to the arrest of Officer Collins, who is busted for heading a prostitution ring. Seeing as though he was in charge of the experiment, one of the only ones who knew of its existence, and “due to a lot of top-secret red tape… and the massive scandals and base closure that followed, Joe and Rita were forgotten about.

Why is there so much moronic political commentary out there?
Bereft of facts, these populists pollute the airwaves, profiting from their gullible, largely uneducated fanbases, stirring up hysteria and fear, marketing themselves as everymen rather than intelligent, insightful, analytical truth seekers.

On the left we have that shrill drama queen with Keith Olbermann, we have Michael Moore, a sensationalist propagandist, Air America, the near nadir of political discourse, Katie Couric, a less-than-substantial journalist and several others.

On the right, there’s Rush, the thrice-divorced, drug-addicted, college dropout who has made racist statements on the air (look them up), who came back from a holiday in D.R. with Viagra sans prescription; we have Ann Coulter who uses the worst invectives in public showing a class level that is barely recognizable and who has called Jews "imperfect Christians" and believed that Canada participated in the Viet Nam War. We have college dropout and phony populist Sean Hannity as well as ex-drug addict and king of histrionics, Glenn Beck who also feels fit to attack those actually educated in poli science (you know, professors who spent years researching and pursuing a Ph.D. and writing peer-referenced articles). Is this evidence of the idiocracy America has become that left and right hold up this rabble to be representatives?

Yup… people don’t really pay attention to politics anymore, and just want some talking head to tell them what "the other guys" are doing now… it’s like Football in suits, and many Americans don’t really pay attention to what is going on, which is why we get so many unpalatable people representing us from both parties (I’ll be the first to admit that Cynthia McKinney, for example, was a total idiot, and I’m a Dem).. really kind of lame that we all run around talking about being the beacon for Democracy and all with our uninformed electorate and 50% election turnouts

If your question is a real question, & not just a commentary about the intentional corporate "dumbing down" of the commoners (anyone who’s not rich), then you have to look at all of the different beneficiaries of the vomit that dominates the media. Our military keeps growing. We keep building more prisons. Our public education system is falling apart. Our healthcare system is becoming worse than many third world countries. Our President, & most of the top level leaders in the USA, are proven liars & definitely connected to criminal enterprises.

Who owns the media? It is not the general public. Only the super rich bankers, corporate heads, & other blue blooded inbred worshipers of Satan own the media…

O.K. Maybe that’s a little exaggerated…….but maybe it’s not!

Who gets famous in Hollywood/NYC? A ridiculously high proportion of people from Brooklyn, NY. Most of those are Jews & Italian/Sicilians.

Study the corporations, their leaders, the stock market, & the history of the money people in the US of A, Europe, & Israel. You will be interested at how STUPID even those at the top of the money game are.

I almost forgot to mention the Illuminati, Freemasonry, Satan Worshiping in Hollywood (it really exists).

He said I’m the only girl he has ever found that an do that. But I’ve heard this speech and I fall for it every time an it ends up with me getting hurt. But I want to know If I should give him another chance. I feel deep down that he is telling the truth. But I don’t really know how guys think.. I really don’t want to ruin my chances with my current boyfriend.. Again I’m lucky that I even have him back.. But that’s another story… Yea it has something to do with my ex. Um, quit making the same mistake over and over and over, etc.
Your ex is dishonest and has cheated on you before.
Now wants you back because no other girl is willing to put up with his bull.

You say you’ve got something good with your current boyfriend, why risk losing that for a jack off?

Should I cut off new shoots of a honey locust?
I have new honey locust trees that I planted last fall. They are only a little over 7 feet tall, not very mature at all. Should I cut off the new shoots on the trunk? How do I know how low down on trunk I should let new shoots grow, etc., or do I just cut off all new shoots?

You talking about those little fuzzies that appear? Actually they may be helpful to the tree if you don’t let them become branches. In a young tree these sprouts will help develop trunk width faster. Let them grow a season then remove during dormancy. Don’t let them grow more than a season least they think they are branches and you have a bit of a "discussion" with them.

Of course if you need lateral branches, then you must let some develop, but you’ll probably only need 7-10 or so good strong, well spaced later branches. All those fuzzies aren’t needed.

In a bigger tree, say 12 feet tall or more, I would remove them as they appear. They are not needed…….usually. .

If you want one to become a branch…….for whatever reason, it should not be lower than 8 feet from the ground. This allows head room under the branch…..remembering it gets wider as it ages. So since your current tree is only 7 feet tall, let’s get some vertical growth before we start worrying about lateral branches.

I need help making some catchy phrases for a scavenger hunt for my ex boyfriend.?
So we have been together for 3yrs, and just recently we went through a bad time and called it quits. He still means the world to me, and I want to ask him back out through a scavenger hunt, because that is how he asked me out. I have a couple ideas of where stuff will be hidden, and at the very end i will be waiting there. i want it to be really romantic and cute. here are some places i might hide stuff:

1. his room
2. my room
3. his car
4. the library in a book (we both go to mizzou)
5. the gym
6. and of course i want it to end with me, waiting in our favorite park. the park has a rock cliff that we always use to sit on and relax. so please help. any ideas are appreciated. thank you sooo much!

This sounds like a fun idea…but what if it backfires?…what if he doesn’t show up or wanna go through with it? Then you will be heart broken all over again.

Prairie Home Companion, A (2006)

IMDB rating: 7.20

Plot: The movie is a celebrity version of Garrison Keillor’s radio show of the same name. The movie takes place during the last live performance of the show as the new radio network owners have sent an axeman (Tommy Lee Jones)to close the show. Another fantasy element is thrown in as an angel (Virginia Madsen) stalks the theater to take one of the performers. Keillor essentially plays himself, even using his own name for the character. Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep play the singing Johnson Sisters, with Lindsay Lohan as a suicide-obsessed daughter of Streep. Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly are hilarious as the slightly off-color singing cowboy duo, Dusty & Lefty. Kevin Kline is a security guard who act as the narrator. Maya Rudolph also appears as a pregnant stage coordinator. Contains some mild sexually-oriented jokes.

In order which teams have had "the toughest luck" between the Jets,Ravens, and Dolphins?
Jets- lose 5 games by a combined 24 points. Lose to the Dolphins once on a TD with less than 30 seconds left. Lose again to the Dolphins 30-25 allowing only 9 offensive points but 2 Ted Ginn 100+ yard Kick Returns for TDs, and a fumble thats recovered and scooped up for a TD by Jason Taylor. Lose to the Bills 16-13 in OT after having a 13-3 halftime lead. Bobble the snap in OT on what could’ve been a game winning FG and turn it over 5 times. Against the Jaguars last week had the lead with under 3 minutes left but give it up. New Orleans Saints game is the only game that wasn’t one of those "we should’ve won that" games. 3-0 start squandered to 4-5 after a bunch of tough losses

Dolphins-dominant every aspect of the game and control time of possession 47+mins to 14+ mins and still end up losing 27-23 to Peyton Manning and the Colts. Tedd Ginn Jr dropped a potential GW TD grab in the endzone. Lose to the Saints in a game that they led 24-3 after playing really well. Just couldn’t stop Drew Brees and that offense.

Ravens- lose to the Patriots by 6 in a game they probably should’ve won. Tough calls and Mark Clayton dropping an easy catch that would’ve been for a 1st down on 4th down killed them. They lose to the Bengals on a TD with less than 30 seconds left. Defense just couldnt stop the Bengals on the last drive. In a game against the Vikings come storming back to take a 31-30 lead. Vikings get a FG to go up by 33-31. Ravens kicker Steve Hauschka has a chance to win the game but misses the FG. That’s 3 games that came down to the final drive that the Ravens could’ve won

So which of these teams in order has had the toughest luck?
I’m not saying they just got unlucky. These teams lost the games by making too many mistakes etc. But you know what I mean

none! why? BECAUSE IF THEY HAD THEIR SHIT TOGETHER, THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN! SIMPLY BAD PLAY
Daniel | Nov 20, 2009

Miami without a doubt, almost beating the Colts, Saints and the Pats, they could be a pretty good team, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot over and over again. When you hold on to the ball twice as long as the other team, you should win. Unfortunately Miami has a lot of young guys that get tired and lose their focus too much, and then you got some vets that are just too slow and don’t give a crap anymore.

The Jets and the Ravens are good, but not that good. Both defenses have failed to stop anyone like they did at the beggining of the season. Both QB’s for some reason have just stopped performing well. Miami still performs well the whole game, but with them having no playmakers at receiver and little depth on defense, it’s hard to win those games sometimes.

This isn’t Miami’s year. I think they could be a very good team, but I can tell that they need some work. They’ve had some luck too. They almost lost to the Jets twice, and to the Buccs. They’ve only beat the hell out of one team, and that was the Bills. Miami needs to rest those injuries, pick up some playmakers and they could be set next year. They show they can hang with the big boys, but it doesn’t help when you fall apart late in the game.

ADD: I also want to point out the injury bug that has rolled through. That’s tough luck for sure! Lost Ronnie Brown, Patrick Crayton, Chad Pennington, Will Allen, Jake Grove, and depending on rookie cornerbacks, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. Chad Henne shows poise and some good intangables, but I think the whole team needs some more motivation and experience. I can’t take anything away from them, definately a good team, but not the best, they need to finish a few pages in the book before they can continue to another one.
Miami LandSharks | Nov 20, 2009

the dolphins are the best of those three teams, so i’ll go with them. you didn’t mention how they lost ronnie brown and chad pennington, and their top cornerback will allen. although losing pennington was probably a good thing. no one should’ve expected much out of the jets with mark suckchez at qb, they are doing way better than i expected.

THE PANTHERS FAN | Nov 20, 2009

The ravens really didn’t play well in that pats game, no tough calls either that’s bull both teams had gotten called for roughing on plays that granted most officiating crews might let them go(except the one where suggs swung at brady’s leg - I know the ravens wined but the fact he did it on purpose is what drew the flag and you would get flagged any time you did that. Doesn’t matter what QB It is either the guy throws the ball and 2 seconds later you swing at his leg you’re going to get flagged.) but this crew is known for throwing more flags than any other, ravens and pats both knew coming in this was a strict crew. The ravens just didn’t bother to abide the rules. Dropped a 4th down pass, teams drop passes you’ll almost never see a game where someone doesn’t drop a pass - he just picked a bad time. Even if he makes the catch he’s still in bounds and they got 8 yards to go with around 20 seconds. Might not be tough for manning, but with flacco you can bet he was just about to see a defensive scheme he’d never seen before and he hadn’t been playing well. He threw one interception in a 2 minute drill and flirted with disaster several times that game. As far as the Bengals game thats the way it goes. You have to stop teams in the final drive or you lose. I feel a little bad for them about the missed kick, but still teams do miss field goals. Pats missed one in Denver, they make it they probably win. It happens.

Jets turned the ball over 5 times or something to the bills, you can’t beat anyone doing that. That’s a game that would have been 35 - 13 had they played a decent team, they had good luck in that game not bad luck. Both Dolphins/Jets games could have gone either way, the dolphins just played a little better.

I guess I would have to say the Dolphins simply because they had so many tough teams to start the year. The ravens got to play the pats when they were still struggling - and while yeah the bengals are good they aren’t exactly the colts or saints.
Rush Limbaughs Drug Dealer 20 | Nov 20, 2009

The Jets are the definition of snakebit. No matter what, they can’t catch a break. That being said, they do have rookies at head coach and QB, probably the two most important people in a football organization. Once Sanchez and Ryan get more experience, they add some depth and become more disciplined they should be able to get over the hump.

How do you control a problem dog!?
Hi, this dog is a real problem and the owners dont feel they can cope with her messing everything up. She jumps up, play-bites (hard), chews everything, and generally runs around causing havoc. They’ve told her off every single time she does something wrong, but she doesnt care and just does it again. They put a muzzle of her when she play-bites, but when you take it off she just wags her tail, jumps up and bites you, because she thinks your playing. What can be done to make her behave!??

I would respectfully suggest you read a couple of books and watch some videos on raising and training dogs. Also, I recommend two TV shows, "The Dog Whisperer" with Cesar Millan on the National Geographic Channel, and "It’s Me or the Dog," with Victoria Stillwell, on Animal Planet. Both programs are very instructive and often deal with the issues you raise here. Good luck!

Bob | Nov 09, 2008

everytime shes naughty, put her in a different room on her own. a tap on the nose wouldnt hurt either. with male dogs, you can castrate them to calm them but i dont know with female dogs. see the vet or enrol the dog in an obedience class

theshadowknows | Nov 09, 2008

This dog hasnt had basic training, You need to tell the owners the ONLY thing they can do is go bak to the basics as if it were a pup, and as these bad habbits are now established I think a training class would be a must.
There really isnt another way, p[ups NEED basic training, this pup sounds though it hasnt had it at all or correcly, , either way you need to go back to basics
Jenna S | Nov 09, 2008

Rambunctious dogs need to release the extra energy. She needs to be exercised and walked on a regular basis. Not sure of the breed or size, but large breeds require a minimum of 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening.

She also needs to be in-rolled in obedience class. Petsmart offers classes for all different ages and levels. You get 8 weeks of class for not very expensive, I think around a $100. It would also be a great way for the dog to make friends and get rid of excess energy playing.

The Dog Whisperer and It’s Me or the Dog tv shows are great ways to learn training ideas and then see what works for you. Most importantly, they need to be persistent and patient with their training and the dog.
craigslistlvnv | Nov 09, 2008

Dogs do not have problems, it’s always the owners inability to communicate with the dog. Telling a dog off is not the answer, she should be praised when she is well behaved and ignored if she misbehaves.

Praise is vital and when praise is inappropriate this is consider to be a rebuke. Please get rid of the muzzle, it;s cruel.
dorothy s | Nov 09, 2008

There is too much telling off and not enough praise going on that’s why she is a nuisance.
This dog only gets attention through misbehaving.
She has become stressed and acting this way is a classic sign.

They need to go to training classes and play and praise this dog more often.
It is such a same when dogs are misunderstood.

Caz has gone for one of my favourite films in The Prestige. Absolutely incredible twist and almost unpredictable. Twelve Monkeys (Bruce Willis) and Angel Heart (Mickey Rourke) are very good too.

I just mentioned it in a previous question but the coming together, rather than twist in Franklyn (Ryan Phillippe) is a very good example of contemporary film making done to it’s best effect.
