Am I really going to move?
Ok so Ive been married over year and a half..my hubby’s never really enjoyed his work till NOW…he’s been in a new job for 4 months… high position and lots of responsibility..

Cut long story short…first we were going to emigrate to Dubai for few years as its tax free employment.. that didn’t happen as we went there and realised it was c*ap - finding a job isnt easy and it’s only good if your rich!
Then we toyed with the idea of moving to Australia…I applied for a skills assesment, we passed, we went to Australia to see the lifestyle and decided YET AGAIN, it wasn’t right for us…to far and quite lonely and it’s not that easy to find anything there..and it’s not cheaper than UK..

So now, Hubby’s manager has suggested he relocates in Manchester area for work so he can come in to the office rather than work remotely at home in London and make 1 visit a week up to Manchester.. well, now hubby is saying that would be a good move…

I am quite excited with the prospect but I feel jinxed that the last 2 times it didnt work out and now I dont know what to think anymore!!!

Hubby makes a good salary but whats the guarantee I will find a job up there…Leaving a 4.5year job here (average not anything special)

I am fedup with thinking of ideas and not going ahead with it..a part of me thinks will we ever move out of his parents home?! everytime we make an effort to move out, something becomes an issue and stops us!

I want to move on now and settle..I’m like 27 and its getting harder day by day…

what should I do??

Has anyone been in a similar dilemma?

Make the right choices. Stay focus. Take action.
Do not allow any issue to stop you both from moving on. Its your future … the rest of your life !
Be excited for your husband. The good salary will buy you time to find a job you comfortable with.
You are finding it harder day by day … ??
Imagine if you have kids. So stop procrastinating.
I know… been there.

i was kind of like not sure while reading your post until I came to the "his parents home" part. This is a done deal! MOVE OUT!!!!!!!!

there are plenty of jobs in manchester not just for you i think that it would be a good change as your still in the united kingdom and you can still make visits back to see family and friends also it should be good for startin to wind down and settle rather dan move to a country that you dont know hardly about..try it and u never no wat could happen . x
Oh geez… You poor thing! You HAVE been through the mill, haven’t you? You certainly are a very understanding wife and extremely supportive and I do appreciate your dilemna. From my experience it is best to address this with the other half and explain to him from your heart how this has affected you.

There is no gaurantee that this move will work out either. However, trying to view these situations in a positive light always helps. The most important thing is that the both of you should have a life and home of your own. Do whatever you can to help that process along. Continue being supportive and be honest with him about your feelings. I wish you all the best.
Ahuvahb | Mar 10, 2010

I think you will feel less isolated in Manchester than you did in Dubai or Australia…it’s less of a culture shock…

Go for it, and live all the adventures you can before you get stuck at home with kids like me! Starfish | Mar 10, 2010

See if your employer can relocate you to that area as well. it’s a lot less drastic a move than to another country. If his job is a great paying one, with good benefits, it might be worth the move. Your work record will serve you in good stead if your employer cannot relocate you, too. get a written recommendation from them if possible, to add to your resume. This move seems like a good idea; your own place, a fresh start.

What do you think of my writing?
Part of a fantasy.romance novella I’m almost finished writing. Let me know what ya think! Thank you.

—–

I could feel the house watching me.

Its great glass eyes stared out at the gravel drive, noting my car dismissively, but giving me their full attention. One heavy eyelid flickered, then was still.

I sighed.

This was home.

I wondered vaguely, what color the siding must have been before ivy had sworled and knotted over every inch of it, even one bay window was cased lovingly in dark emerald. The stone steps up to the porch were steep, I realized, and left my suitcases next to the car.

With one hand gliding over the rough railing, I looked around the porch, lightly fingering odd objects that lay around as I passed them, and ducking around spider-webs.

A heavy mortar and pestle sat upon a side table, and I thought derisively "Is this a commentary of their lifestyle?".

I remembered the drive up here; the roads were, for the most part, dirt or gravel, and as I stood here on the porch, I couldn’t see the end of the drive-way for trees and shadows. Thoughtfully, I ran one finger-tip over the inside of the bowl, it was smooth, slick even, and I realized that it was coated with an oily substance. When I pulled away, my hand smelled peppery, and I held it cupped to my nose a moment, trying to remember that scent.

Nasturtium.

I smiled.

My father used to eat them. He’d pluck them from our garden and chew them up, then run after me as I shrieked delightedly, "You’re breath smells hot Daddy!". Then he’d scoop me up and give me spicy kisses, proclaiming that he was a dragon. I still remember how he would trilled the "r" and I would let forth a shrill squeak.

I stooped to pick up a strange doll. I thought at first that it was a corn-husk doll but…

"Chelsea!"
Thank you all.

I’m a published writer, mostly poetry and articles, but I’d like the public’s view of my fantasy writing before I do anything much with it.

I have cleaned it up quite a bit, but I couldn’t find the edited copy…only this one, the original.

-smiles- I liked portraying the house as a sort of side-character. I’ve seen many old houses that seemed to watch me as I passed them, and their gazes weren’t always friendly.

Anyways, thanks again!!

The content is good, but the writing needs going over. It isn’t bad, but it’s a little rough around the edges. I suggest reading it aloud, so you can hear it. Look for flow, look that your point came across clearly, and make sure it’s original.

			schencker | Mar 14, 2010

it sounds really good so far. Keep at it!
nirvanafloyd69 | Mar 14, 2010

Very eerie somber setting. I like how you made the house almost seem like a character that she was going back to.
Clover A | Mar 14, 2010

I agree with the first answer, the content is good but the writing needs a bit of editing. For example, the sentence, "Its great glass eyes stared out at the gravel drive, noting my car dismissively, but giving me their full attention," seems a bit long. I think it would sound better if it was broken up a bit, e.g. "Its great glass eyes stared out at the gravel drive. They noted my car dismissively, but gave me their full attention." Sounds like it’ll be a good story though, good luck.
According to the officers heading the project, too many times the talents and expensive training of the best pilots and soldiers go to waste during times of peace. So they enlist Bauers (Wilson), the most under-achieving average guy they’ve got, to be the test subject for the initial hibernation experiment. Also participating in the top-secret program is Rita (Rudolph), a prostitute who agreed to take part in exchange for dropping some criminal charges against her, among other things. Of course, the experiment, which was to last only a year, goes under due to the arrest of Officer Collins, who is busted for heading a prostitution ring. Seeing as though he was in charge of the experiment, one of the only ones who knew of its existence, and “due to a lot of top-secret red tape… and the massive scandals and base closure that followed, Joe and Rita were forgotten about.

Why is there so much moronic political commentary out there?
Bereft of facts, these populists pollute the airwaves, profiting from their gullible, largely uneducated fanbases, stirring up hysteria and fear, marketing themselves as everymen rather than intelligent, insightful, analytical truth seekers.

On the left we have that shrill drama queen with Keith Olbermann, we have Michael Moore, a sensationalist propagandist, Air America, the near nadir of political discourse, Katie Couric, a less-than-substantial journalist and several others.

On the right, there’s Rush, the thrice-divorced, drug-addicted, college dropout who has made racist statements on the air (look them up), who came back from a holiday in D.R. with Viagra sans prescription; we have Ann Coulter who uses the worst invectives in public showing a class level that is barely recognizable and who has called Jews "imperfect Christians" and believed that Canada participated in the Viet Nam War. We have college dropout and phony populist Sean Hannity as well as ex-drug addict and king of histrionics, Glenn Beck who also feels fit to attack those actually educated in poli science (you know, professors who spent years researching and pursuing a Ph.D. and writing peer-referenced articles). Is this evidence of the idiocracy America has become that left and right hold up this rabble to be representatives?

Yup… people don’t really pay attention to politics anymore, and just want some talking head to tell them what "the other guys" are doing now… it’s like Football in suits, and many Americans don’t really pay attention to what is going on, which is why we get so many unpalatable people representing us from both parties (I’ll be the first to admit that Cynthia McKinney, for example, was a total idiot, and I’m a Dem).. really kind of lame that we all run around talking about being the beacon for Democracy and all with our uninformed electorate and 50% election turnouts
If your question is a real question, & not just a commentary about the intentional corporate "dumbing down" of the commoners (anyone who’s not rich), then you have to look at all of the different beneficiaries of the vomit that dominates the media. Our military keeps growing. We keep building more prisons. Our public education system is falling apart. Our healthcare system is becoming worse than many third world countries. Our President, & most of the top level leaders in the USA, are proven liars & definitely connected to criminal enterprises.

Who owns the media? It is not the general public. Only the super rich bankers, corporate heads, & other blue blooded inbred worshipers of Satan own the media…

O.K. Maybe that’s a little exaggerated…….but maybe it’s not!

Who gets famous in Hollywood/NYC? A ridiculously high proportion of people from Brooklyn, NY. Most of those are Jews & Italian/Sicilians.

Study the corporations, their leaders, the stock market, & the history of the money people in the US of A, Europe, & Israel. You will be interested at how STUPID even those at the top of the money game are.

I almost forgot to mention the Illuminati, Freemasonry, Satan Worshiping in Hollywood (it really exists).

Brown spider in my car how should I get it out?
I just got a new car and I found a brown spider with a stripe in it’s center. There is a very common harmless spider that has a stripe in the center, and that spider is more of a jumper because it doesn’t spend all its time in a web. If it is hot outside and you left the windows rolled up it may already be dead after sitting in the sun 24 hours. For peace of mind before you drive take an index card and brush it over your car’s interior surface to dislodge it. Don’t use some thing soft like a napkin, that is not necessarily strong enough to move it. Look for a picture of the brown recluse by search " Brown Recluse Spider picture".

Is there something else I can feed my Plecostomus (Sucker)?
I have a Plecostomus with 3 goldfish in a 20 gallon tank.
I bought some algae tablets to be sure that the sucker is getting enough to eat, but I discovered that it’s not getting to the tablets, the gold fish, go nuts over it and devour it.

It raised 2 concerns:
1- The gold fish are eating too much.
2- The Sucker may not be getting proper rations.

Is there something else I could feed the sucker, which the goldfish might not devour?

heres the trick, plecos are nocturnal, so after you turn your lights off for the night, wait about a half hour, break the algea or even veggie tablet into two pieces and drop them in the tank, dont turn the light on to do it, the pleco will find it, another thing that works for me is a veggie clip, sold at local pet shops, suctions to the side of the glass, and you can stick cucumber, zucchinni, lettuce, carrots, anything in there, also if you want to keep your pleco happy do the same thing, lights off, wait a half hour, and drop a piece of zucchinni in the tank,

			 | Feb 05, 2010

if u have a favorite spot the pleco goes to put it in there hopefully like a cave or feed the gold fish and then quickly drop in the tablet so they are distracted and wont go stariaght for the puck
puppydoggal | Feb 05, 2010

Your pleco shouldn’t even be in that tank. Common plecos need a 55 gallon tank. Even the smaller varieties need at least a 30. On top of that, plecos and goldfish should not be housed together anyways. One reason you are wtnessing firsthand; goldfish are greedy eaters and plecos kept with them often starve to death. Plecos also prefer warmer water than goldfish. Finally, plecos love the slime coat that goldfish produce and have been known to cause injury to goldfish on more than one occasion. And just to make things even better, even your 3 goldfish are overstocking your tank. Your tank is the MINIMUM size for ONE fancy goldfish. Worry less about getting the pleco new food and more about getting your fish new homes. All four of these fish are very long living fish, but yours will probably not even make it to half of their life expectancy in that setup. (Average goldfish lifespan: 15-20 years; average pleco lifespan: 10-15 years)
Penguin | Feb 05, 2010

All of those fish poop A LOT and a 20 gallon can’t handle it. The pleco is also a tropical fish and is not a suitable tank mate for the coldwater goldfish. A 20 gallon is big enough for ONE SINGLE FANCY GOLDFISH. You really need to do some research before buying pets.
Fish Man | Feb 05, 2010

Go to the store and get the big weekend feeders they love those then try blanched zucchini Hope this help

Cant Remember Old Horror Movie Help please!!!?
i remember there was a horror movie i saw when i was younger, but cant for the life of me remember the name. Its about these four kids, in their 20’s maybe, that were heading to a place called pot creek. But before they get there, they stop at a hotel to rest for the night. The guy that rents them the room tells them that to the north of them, across a lake is a bunch of people that are like in a cult. After a while, strange things start happening, and people slowly start dying. Most familiar to me is the ending. When two of the kids are driving away after everything is said and done, the killer pops up from the back seat and kills them both. if anyone knows what movie this is, please help. Any answers are appreciated.

The Autobots, without Optimus Prime after a conflict on Earth takes his life, must now face a destiny they know nothing of. Megatron and a group of forsaken Decepticons have been reformed by the ultimate transformer, a planet consuming demon known as Unicron into even deadlier warriors. Now Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus must destroy The Autobot Matrix of Leadership for Unicron’s glory or suffer the horrific destruction of Cybertron. However, Optimus Prime has decreed that an Autobot will rise from his rank and use the power of The Matrix to light the darkest hour of the Autobots. With Hot Rod facing responsibility for Prime’s death, he feels he may be able to use the power of the Matrix to turn the tide of the Cybertronian Wars and stop Unicron.
