I would recommend http://www.retroflix.info/
It has links to most retro movies before 1989. I have used it often for movies of 40’s and 50’s.
Good Luck!!!!

Why is that you can't download Nancy Drew games from Her Interactive?
I want this game so bad and it’s on sale for $9.99 at herinteractive(for both box and digital download) but when I click the download button the page doesn’t come up. I get a page that says Internet Explorer cannot display the web page.
@Randy- I typed that in and apparently that question has been deleted.
I downloaded on on Saturday and it worked fine. Took a while, but worked fine.
Can you try downloading Mozilla Firefox first? I had to switch a long time ago due to complications with my Internet Explorer, but the Her Interactive page states that it’s sometimes easier to go through Firefox due to IE’s firewalls and the like.
Just make sure to find Her Interactive’s Download Manager and get that before you buy/install the game. It’s free, and it makes the process sooo much easier.
Good luck.

whats the name of this musical?
okay so we are watching it in music class and i dunno the name. i think it was made in the 70s or 80s, but it took place in the 50s. it is based in new york city or brooklyn or something and there are these 2 gangs. one gang is white (sharks) and the other are portaricans(sp) (jets). or maybe the gang names were switched. but anyways.. a girl from one side, maria, falls in love with a guy, tony, from the other side and they are trying to find a way to be together without anyone knowing because if anyone knows they will get in trouble. but only 1 person knows and thats maria’s sister i think. and the sharks and jets are about to have an arm fight under some bridge. thats where we stopped. but does anyone know the name of this musical?
It’s West Side Story, based on the story of Romeo and Juliet. The Jets are the white gang. The Sharks are the Puerto Rican gang. The only one who knows is Maria’s brotherf’s girlfriend, and her name is Anita. You stopped at a good part. Keep watching. By the way the music is by Leonard Bernstein, and the lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Need help with editing short story?
Ok, I am writing a short story and I am having a lot of trouble with it. Has a little mixture of the main charactors of Supernatural in it an a idea from CSI:Miami.
Dean is a Top CSI cop at 25. His little brother Sam( who is a CSI forensic cop) is in a hostage situation with 2 other people. THis takes place in the gunroom and the CSI can see everything thats happening in the camera The gunman wants to kill Sam because he has something against Dean. Later Sam gets shot in the side and the gunman says that he needs a jet and money with Sam as his hostage. When the gunman is walking out with a motercycle helmet on, they find out that its not the gunman but the other 2 hostages and the gunman escaped with Sam.
Here it is
I stepped out of the car in a hustle, with tension in my eyes. I quickly walked toward the head detective.

Did you see the Islanders defenseman get pegged in the face by Ovechkin's slap shot?
Yikes, that was nasty …
Guy has balls. You remember in the Mighty Ducks when the other team jumps out of the way of the shot from the guy w/ the ridiculous slapper? That would have been me if I had been Hiller and saw Ovi’s shot heading to my face (though I prob would not have had time). Hope the guy is ok. No1 did anything wrong, but never good to see that happen to anyone. Makes me grateful that my youth league made us wear full face cage back when I played
Jay | Jan 29, 2010
Yeah, that was quite a facial. Too bad for him that it was Ovechkin and not someone with a lighter shot like Semin.

What does it mean when singers?
point to the sky? I’ve noticed singers like Michael Jackson and Hannah Montana, and alot of other singers point to the sky. Is it to help them hit the high notes, just a move, or does it have a meaning?
Thanks! I’m just curious..
thanks for the answers! I thought it might mean something like it’s all for God, since they’re pointing to the sky, but I’m not sure! or just to hit the high notes, because it might be helpful! But thank you!
i have no clue..

It’s just a move. I sing and I point to the sky as well, I look up at the sky. When you get into the song, you may do things and not notice.
But maybe THEY have a meaning….

 Party Monster (2003)
IMDB rating: 5.90
Plot: Set in the New York club scene of the late 1980’s thru the 1990’s, a tale which chronicles the rise and fall of club-kid promoter ‘Michael Alig’ (qv), a party organizer, whose extravagant life was sent spiralling downward when he boasted on television that he had killed his friend, roommate, and drug dealer, Angel Melendez. Originally from Indiana, Alig moved to New York, and came to be an underground legend, known for his excessive drug use and outrageous behavior in the club world. At his peak, he had his own record label, and magazine, and hosted Disco 2000, one of the biggest club nights in New York in the ’90s. He was doing a lot of drugs, and as his addiction got worse, his party themes became darker and more twisted. Alig’s saga reached its tragic crescendo when he viciously murdered his drug dealer, Angel, by injecting him with Drano and throwing him in the East River. The power he wielded on the club scene made him feel untouchable, so he didn’t hestitate to boast of the murder. The press thought it was a publicity stunt—until Angel’s body washed ashore.

Which film portrayals of the Nazis are accurate, and which ones are exaggerated?
Many films regarding the Nazis regard them as inhumane monsters without a shred of conscience or emotion. However, the Milgram experiments show that normal people that are pulled off the street are able to commit atrocities just because they were following orders.
Also, some Nazis do not fit the category of war-like and antisemitic. Two prime examples are Oskar Schindler and Claus von Stauffenberg. Plus, many of the men in the military were drafted, and being a part of the Nazi Party was required by law. Some of them were sadistic, but that doesn’t mean that all of them were. Many of them were just young men trying to survive.
There are films like Downfall which portray the Nazis as human beings while being anti-Nazi at the same time, but most films exaggerate the Nazis. I’m not saying that Hitler was not evil; I’m simply trying to seperate fact from fiction.
Almost all are exaggerated. WWII was a time of propaganda
Antonious | Feb 07, 2010
When a film is made it is fiction unless it is specifically called a film of events as they really happen much like combat footage used in war movies. One can not make a film about real events unless it is made of the real event. Its much like a photo. A photo is a representation of a moment in time. It will never happen again exactly as it occurred because one can not go back in time - it is scientifically impossible to go back to an exact event. Well, films about real events have to be taken with a grain of salt.
tuffy | Feb 07, 2010
In Germany during the Nazi era it was much safer to be a member of the Nazi Party and undermine the system from within than to try and openly fight them.
Just because someone was a member of the party doesn’t necessarily mean they were inhuman monsters like Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, Josef Mengele, Adolf Eichmann etc.
There were many people who used their membership of the party to help people rather than destroy them, for example Oskar Schindler.
Unfortunately, Hollywood has never allowed the truth to get in the way of a good story.
Elizabeth | Feb 07, 2010
With very few exceptions the Nazis have turned out to be the perfect villains for Hollywood. Hollywood is ALWAYS fiction, always! Even if it claims to be a documentary, or (heaven forbid) a reality show, it was edited by someone with a viewpoint - it will always reflect that viewpoint.
I once read a description of the Klingons on the original Star Trek - "They were the perfect villains, they were pure evil, they were so nasty they built their spaceships without bathrooms to make themselves nastier. They were so evil they would fart in airlocks."
The Klingons are the Nazis of the future. Hollywood is always looking for identifiable bad guys - zombies are the current trend.
gaylene B | Feb 07, 2010
All the ones made by jews are inaccurate.
Adolf Hitler | Feb 07, 2010
Beware of confusing ‘Nazi’ with ‘German’ and assuming all Germans were Nazis from 1933 - 1945; this is an oversimplification, and just not true. Stauffenberg, for example, was no Nazi and never a Party member.
Nazi Party membership never exceeded 10% of the population (the Party target) and the vast majority of the armed forces, particularly the senior officer corps (which were mostly members of the aristocracy), were not Nazi Party members. It was NOT required to be a Party member by law if your were in the military; the requirement was for all members of the military to take an oath of personal loyalty and obedience to Hitler.
Political leadership and administrators at all levels, and SS members would all have belonged to the Party, so can be described as Nazis.
To answer your question:
Valkyrie
Kelly’s Heroes
A Bridge Too Far
Schindler’s List
I believe portray Nazi Party members/personnel accurately
Most 1960s and earlier movies - for example Battle of the Bulge, The Dirty Dozen and so on grossly exaggerate, stereotyping all Germans as Nazis, and stereotyping Nazis also.
After all, as you point out, Schindler was a Nazi Party member, and clearly wasn’t some evil barbaric goose stepping monster.
